****

now is the time to be great
and there is no time to wait
time waits for no one
and time is lost for those who hesitate
RISE
for we’ve been down for far too long
only we can right these wrongs
its been a struggle, a beautiful struggle
let us sing of victory in our song
RISE
people of the world
from every corner of the globe
release all inhibitions
do not let your passion be controlled
RISE
from inner turmoil
negativity of the mind
use all focused energies
and refocus our fate that’s been assigned
RISE
because defeat is only for those
who accept being defeated
and our collective strength
has only been merely weakened
RISE
from the ashes and debris
and for the world to see
there is NO QUIT in US
him, her, you or me
RISE

RISE
from face first on the concrete
RISE
from bended knee
RISE
people of the world
RISE FOR AYITI

A bridge severed from present to past
F

R
emaining with unknown ancestors lost in the middle passage
I
nner conscious of later generations alludes to a greater past,
C
onsciously seeking a greater path, building off what we’ve built in the

History’s Footnotes {Sonnet}

****

History’s true footnotes shall not be lost
upon the pages and pages of lies
filled with blood by those that at any cost
can and will be replaced by you and I
let this message not be lost upon you
with open mind and ever willing heart
grab your pens and do what you ought to
to ensure this tale is told just from start
write of Kemet’s greatness, greater than told,
renamed Egypt, replicated by Greeks
write of Africa’s influence in BOLD
for its valley’s are other countries peaks
if erased from histories memory
they will erase us inevitably
